Teresa’s Cafe

Posted by brother benny

When I won a Blue Ribbon at War of the Worts for the Alter Alder Smoked Porter, I chose a gift card for Teresa’s Cafe in Wayne, PA.

Teresa’s Cafe
124 North Wayne Ave  Wayne, PA 19087

The drive down was no longer than some of our other hideouts, a little farther than Spinnerstown, about the same as Capone’s, and shorter than the Hulmeville.

Why you should go:

Two dozen beers on tap, I didn’t count but it would seem several hundred in bottles.

The staff is courteous, helpful and very good at what they are doing.  The guys at the bar were awesome, very much into the beers.

The food.  All I can say is go hungry.  Go REALLY hungry.  Portions are very good, not grotesque in size, but you will want to try many different things.  I had the mussels and clam appetizer

Vongole e Cozze

Steamed Clams and Mussels in a Fennel, White Wine Broth

Followed by a Main Course of Seared (rare the way it should be) Tuna

Tuna

Seared Mustard Seed Crust, Lemon Butter Asparagus Risotto, Roasted Red Pepper Vinaigrette

And dessert was a Peach Bread Pudding with a caramel and blueberry sauce.  Oh my, just absolutely awesome all the way around.

I could only have two beers as I was judging the following day, but my two choices were both quite nice.

Rodenbach Grand Cru on tap.  Funny question from the bartender, “You do know that it is sour, right?”  I guess a lot of people order it thinking it is something else?

My dinner/after dinner beverage was Arcadia Imperial Stout again on tap, and thick and wonderful as the day is long.

My date for the evening (my wife, what were you thinking?) had a hand pulled Yards Love Stout, aside from our waiter mixing up the two beers, (we figured it out) she really like it a lot, and it went very nicely with her dinner and desert.

Vitello

Veal Medallions, Prosciutto, Fontina Cheese, Madeira Demi Glace

Sautéed Spinach, Risotto Cake

and Chocolate Mousse

All in all, for the beer geek in you, you have to visit. For the hungry person in you, you have to go.  If you are a hungry beer geek, you might as well get an apartment up the street!  :)  Great place, great food and drink.  Complementary Valet parking is available across the street.

I love Wayne in general, and Teresa's Cafe in particular. That was a lot of fun and I can't wait to go back. :-) (Next time I'm getting the tuna!)
